  • Mountain Bike RiderYou see Marin doesn’t just do suspension, it does normal bikes, too. This year they’ve even got exciting, shaped tubes to make people take notice.
  • We feared the worst when we saw the triangular / teardrop down and top tube sections after our experiences with Dawes last year. No horrific rigidity here though – feels like a basic, butted frame should. More »

Their sprung bikes may get all the press, but Marin do exciting things with hardtails too. The Indian Fire Trail’s Easton Ovation teardrop tube profiles increase strength at tube junctions so there’s no need for extra gussets. The East Peak is the starter model in Marin’s XC FRS line up. All use a brand new swingarm, butted frameset and Fox Vanilla Air R shock, it’s just the componentry that changes. The new space frame swingarm uses square and triangular section for maximum chain clearance or stiffness where applicable. Bearings carry a lifetime guarantee and the big “torque tube” pipe that holds the two halves together is now curved to keep the rear taughter, and there are disc mounts and guides for cable or hose. Nice. With the air shock and careful butting of the main frame the East Peak drops 2lb from last year even with clipless pedals and bar ends, weighing in at a stunning 27.3 lbs. More »
