Marin’s Mount Vision is something of a modern classic. It’s no exaggeration to say that this is the bike that popularised full suspension in the UK. The original incarnation was simple, effective and affordable and it’s been tweaked and refined ever since. What Mountain Bike Awards 2003Marin took some big risks when it dropped the swingarm guns it’d stuck to with great success for years, yet the QUAD-Link design offers some real advantages, seemingly without any real downsides. You’d also be very hard pressed to notice visual differences as the two short ‘H’ linkages are tucked under the down tube and behind the seat tube of the Mount Vision, but attached to an otherwise very similar looking monocoque swingarm. Two mounting points have enabled designer Jon Whyte to drop 50 grams out of the weight, though, which offsets the extra in the eight lifetime warranted bearings and linkage pieces. More »
