Superb Cycling, great music and a festival of fun – that’s what’s in store at the BikeRadar Live event in Donington – now with Whyte as one of its main sponsors and the chance to see all the latest bikes from Marin. Read the full story on the event right here:

Future – the special interest media group, has announced the first commercial partnerships for its forthcoming cycling festival, BikeRadar Live and Whyte Bikes are up there in the vanguard!

BikeRadar Live is teaming up with a host of leading names for the UK’s biggest cycling festival launched  on the  weekend of 30–31 May at Donington Park in Leicestershire.

And the first partners to be announced are; Whyte Bikes; Scott Sports; and audio company Pioneer.

Top bike brand Whyte Bikes has signed up to create the ‘Whyte Night’ endurance mountain biking events.

The Whyte Night 4-hour and 12-hour mountain bike enduro races will be held on a 5km purpose-built trail designed by four-time national mountain bike champion Will Longden.

They will start at 8pm on Saturday, with a share of a £5,000 prize purse up for grabs, and the chance to win a special prize of a £2,900 Whyte Bikes E-120 XT mountain bike.

Whyte Bikes brand manager Justin Stevenson said:

“I am thrilled to be involved with such an exciting event. It’s going to be a fantastic and challenging night-time race, as part of a great cycling festival, and is a great platform to raise the profile of Whyte. We’ll also be supporting the Whyte Night race with our Whyte race team.”

Off the track, leading bike brand Scott Sports and audio company Pioneer have teamed up to create the Scott Sunset DJ Sessions. This will add an extra musical dimension to the cycling festival, and will host some top name DJs as the sun sets on the show on Friday and Saturday evening. Hosted by one of the biggest biking manufacturers in the world, and top quality audio company Pioneer ProD, it’s sure to keep weekenders in the festival mood.

Grant Norris, BikeRadar Live organiser said:

“I can’t think of any companies better suited to kicking off our BikeRadar Live partnership announcement.  Each of them brings huge expertise to what will be the UK’s biggest cycling event. We’re hoping to create a real festival atmosphere, celebrating the best of all things bike-related.

“Whyte Bikes hosting the night-time endurance events should bring a real sense of excitement to the event. Off the track, at the Scott Sunset DJ Sessions everyone will find a place to listen to their favourite music after a hard day riding. With more partnerships to be announced soon, BikeRadar Live is shaping up to be a fantastic celebration of cycling.”

BikeRadar Live is brought to you by Future, the makers of MBUK, Cycling Plus, BikeRadar.com, What Mountain Bike, Cyclingnews.com and Procycling.

During the recent Quest Adventure demo day, JP was lucky enough to get a quick spin on the Marin Attack Trail. But he didn’t have enough, so he was given a loan of the trail blazer and had a blast. As a drawing office supervisor you may think that Jim Barrow shines a desk with the seat of his pants – and you wouldn’t be far wrong. But when work is done, Jim becomes JImbo, one of the South Coast’s most daring MTBers and when he was let lose on a pre-production model of next year’s Alchemist the sparks just flew. This is Jimbo’s ‘review’. (and you can read more of his wise words here http://www.southdownshosting.co.uk/smtbsite/2009/04/marin-attack-trail-review/) More »
