Just received this picture from Marin Man on a “natural trails” ride on the hills above Coed Y Brenin.
What more can I say, pure escapism.

Fast, svelte, understated with confidence inspiring geometry at low and hi speeds, the Fairfax range is perfect for everything your commute can and will throw at you.
I wonder whether we are going to get a record breaking cold winter? Last year we received some great pictures of your Marin’s in the snow.
Marin Man will be back soon with advice and observations on winter riding and how to survive the road or trail. Watch this space.
This was a shot we loved last year from Marin Man…the Muirwoods 29er in the snow of the Cotswold hills. Robust steel, clean lines, 29er traction, easy to maintain rim saving cable discs, guard and rack ready. The point and shoot Muirwoods is great for urban rides, commuting or getting your adventure on in the back country lanes. Understated with security qr’s the Muirwoods is perfect as your urban work horse, quietly going about it’s business with stealthy style.
We bumped into this one on a snowy day commuting last winter and we are sure to see a few more this year.
Keep an eye out for Marin Man on the road, path or trail.
Fresh from being tested with the cycling press (watch this space for the review) the Marin XM 7 is back at HQ and we couldn’t wait to try it out.
This is the 2013 latest incarnation of a trail classic; the Mount Vision range has been hitting trails ever since the early days of the sport in Marin County and the latest bike is more capable than ever.
With tapered head tube, maxle throughout, dropper seat post and ramped up to 140mm for 2013 the Mount Vision range are specced and prepped for contemporary trail riding. With the proven Quad Link 4 system the XM 140 is stiff, pedals efficiently a descends fast with a confidence inspiring 67.5 head angle.
Mud clearances are great, check out the trail / stream pics to give you an idea of the UK trail gloop we have tested the bike in and it has never failed.
Spec hi-lights include…RockShox Revelation RL 140mm fork and Fox Evolution CTD rear, with a 3 x 10 XT / SLX combo (rescued me on tacky climbs a few times) and the X-Fusion HILO dropper post, which works effortlessly and silently even caked in the UK’s finest.
The matt black paint work with green hi-lights cleans really well, is understated and UK friendly.

On our short and techy home trails the XM7 has been a blast on both fast flowy ST and steep rocky switchbacks. The bike climbs well and gets you back to the trail head with a smile on your face and plenty left in the lungs for another ST session.
Next stop for this bike, more editorial testing and a few natural trail all day epics.

New CX Sportive season starts November… in association with Marin.
CX Sportive returns for the winter season with three great dates through to Spring 2013!
The season gets underway from Salisbury racecourse on November 11th, with a stunning route around the Salisbury droves. Then in the New Year, the action moves to the Chilterns on January 27th, for the hugely popular Woodcote CX Sportive. This attracted nearly 500 riders in 2012 and will be even bigger for 2013! Finally, on March 10th the South Downs Super CX visits Duncton in West Sussex. A monster of course across the iconic South Downs landscape this event really lives up to it’s “Super” soubriquet!

This is my Marin CXR 29er. I built this specifically for the SDD last year but have not been off it since. It is a great bike for long, fast XC riding; a super-efficient mile muncher & a great climbing bike. I do pretty much all my riding on the South Downs & for the sort of riding I do, a 29er is ideal. I liked the look of this frameset from the start & I reckon it is one of the nicest carbon frames Marin have made (so far!).
